Former minister Ashwini Choubey took a dig at the opposition on the ‘One Nation One Election bill’

Bihar: Former Union Minister Ashwini Choubey visited Supaul on Tuesday as part of his district tour. During his visit, he participated in various party programs across the district. He fondly remembered former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s contribution to the development of Mithila, noting that it was under Atal Ji’s leadership that the construction of the Kosi Mahasetu bridged two parts of Mithilanchal. Choubey emphasized the need for everyone to embrace Atal Ji’s principles and work towards building a united and stronger India.

However, during the event, Choubey’s remarks stirred controversy as he compared the opposition to frogs. He said, “The opposition will keep croaking, but the ‘One Nation, One Election’ bill will get passed.” He expressed confidence that all elections would soon be held simultaneously, allowing the government to focus on its full five-year term without disruptions caused by frequent enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct. This, he said, would prevent delays in development projects and reduce election-related expenses.

Choubey urged the opposition to play a constructive role but criticized it for being preoccupied with creating noise and spreading misinformation.

Ashwini Choubey expressed concern over attacks on followers of Sanatan Dharma in Bangladesh, a country that India played a pivotal role in liberating. He called these incidents extremely unfortunate and urged Bangladesh to put an immediate stop to such extremist activities. Warning of potential consequences, he said that if such actions persist, Bangladesh itself could face fragmentation. Referring to the attacks on ISKCON and the arrest of its spiritual leader, Choubey described these events as the height of extremism and condemned them strongly.

Ashwini Choubey highlighted the serious issue of infiltration in the Seemanchal region and called for stringent measures by both the central and state governments to address it. He mentioned that he was visiting the area to meet and motivate party workers. Choubey emphasized the importance of adopting the principles of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and urged everyone to carry forward Atal Ji’s vision and ideas.
